What is so special with regards to hymns? Why do they make any difference? In my opinion, hymns matter for several reasons. Hymns are typically meaningful, poignant, relevant, beautiful, as well as reverent. A great deal of Christian music falls into this category too. In this posting, I'd love to explore each and every attribute in the list above. Assuming that you have not already, visit part 1 in this collection of posts entitled, 'What Exactly Makes Hymns Meaningful?'

Hymns tend to be poignant due to their content. To be affected simply because of the wording of hymns is something a number of people have in common. Moving wording makes it possible for us to look within. We think about who we are, along with who The Almighty is, and His association with all of us. This allows us to consider the way in which He feels about all of us, and ways in which He's affecting our hearts. We are able to ask ourselves, "What is he communicating to us?" This creates a difference in several ways.

We can easily grow whenever we reflect on exactly who God is, and also just how He relates to us and other human beings. Growing makes it possible for us to become much better and strive for something bigger. Growing also assists us to see in a balanced way the key reasons why we must grow. We develop consideration for our fellow human being. We're free to place our egos aside, lose interest in our pride, and over time love and serve one another well. This entire endeavor involves humbleness. Without having humbleness, nothing can be completed that isn't selfish.

Through all of this growing and reflecting, we fully understand the importance of gratitude. We are able to be thankful when we recognize, through service and self-sacrifice, exactly how much we in fact have to be grateful for. All this consequently pushes us to deepen our relationship with other folks, and share God's traits. We are able to come full circle, and be grateful that the verses throughout hymns are actually poignant.

Ideally, the last few paragraphs help simplify the reason hymns will still be poignant far into the future, and perhaps why poignancy on its own is necessary. You are more than welcome to download a wonderful hymns project if you enjoyed reading the last few paragraphs. Additionally, check out part 1, commenting on why hymns are meaningful.
